About
At the Passaic NJ Food Truck Festival, Empanada Guy, a Latin American restaurant, was present. The eatery gained recognition on the show Beat Bobby Flay and their empanadas were highly praised. When encountered at the festival, it came as a pleasant surprise. Although already full from trying various dishes at the event, they decided to sample one empanada – opting for the beef variant from a comprehensive menu selection.
Why you should go
- Try unique empanada flavors like cream cheese with guava
- Experience personalized service from the owner
- Enjoy generous portions and tasty black beans with rice

Amazing food!!! we got the beef empanadas and the cream cheese and guava and omg so yummy!! The owner was so nice and caring he was very friendly as well even brought the food to us to our car and even gave us some free stuff to try out. If you haven’t tried this place yet you are truly missing out!!!
I visited this place for three weeks and they were closed until one day they weren't. Very good empanadas: chicken, cheese or beef. I wish they would have toasted my Cuban sandwich a little more in the panini style.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was clean and organized as well. The empanadas seemed to take a long time to prepare and that was after ordering them online and arriving at the suggested time. I still had to wait 20 minutes more, which was about an hour in total. It’s hard to say how busy it was because it was take out only. We were not thrilled with the empanada but will be visiting again when we can eat there and see how they are fresh.

Reviews
Empanada Guy Restaurant offers a mix of experiences according to various reviews. While some customers praise the delicious empanadas, especially highlighting the beef and cream cheese with guava options, others express disappointment in the service or food quality. Positive comments mention friendly staff, clean premises, and generous portions. The owner's personal touch by delivering food to customers' cars and offering free samples adds a special charm to the dining experience. However, negative feedback includes long wait times for orders even after online reservations and instances of unsatisfactory dishes like soggy rice or incorrect fillings.

At an outdoor event in Wharton with friends. Pretty tasty. Plantains were correctly made and much better than a lot of Cuban restaurants I've been in.
The guy was not friendly at all! No smile when we walked in. I asked him a question and he acted like he didn't want to be bothered with me talking to him while waiting on my food. I went outside to wait after that. I will not be returning. It's a shame because I always buy from their trucks and always recommend people to buy from them. Never again.
